Panelized
1. What is a panelized home?
Panelized homes is a proven way of building and has become popular with consumers and builders. The benefits are substantial. With the ever increasing costs of labour, the shortage of skilled labourers, a short building season and the influence of climates, the panelized building approach has become very beneficial. The big difference between traditional stick built houses and panelized homes is that with panelized homes the exterior walls and the internal partitions are pre-assembled at our manufacuring facilities and shipped as individual wall panels. This allows for the incorporation of related components such as windows, insulation, vapor barriers, exterior wall sheathing and interior/exterior wall strapping.
2. The advantages
The advantages for both the customer and the builder are quite substantial:
Labor Savings:
- Constructing the wall sections and internal partitions in a factory controlled setting results in higher efficiency and therefor lower costs
- Marking the components before construction results in faster building practices during construction of the project
- Reduction of overhead costs because of less handling of materials on site
- Less exposure of materials to the weather
- Less risk of damage and theft
Reduction in construction times:
- Faster construction time as a result of savings in labor on site
- The owner can usually move in much sooner
- Completion dates are easier to predict and manage
- The financing of a project is shorter resulting in a reduction in overall costs
- Delays caused by materials or labour shortages, late deliveries, etc. are reduced
- Year round construction or an extended construction season is a reality
Materials savings:
- With in factory assembly, many problems can be resolved prior to shipping
- Less wastage and fewer site clean ups; Environmentally friendly
- Reduces significantly the human error factor on site
Consistent quality:
- Factory assembly results in a consistent fit and finish
- Measurements more exact as a result of assembling indoors under controlled conditions
- Closing panels in factory prior to shipping significantly reduces problems of materials being exposed to the elements
- Better insulation and air tightness is achieved
- A better fit and seal during wall assembly
Common sense business practices:
- Construction loan interest costs reduced
- Quick, Accurate and Guaranteed Pricing
- Excellent value for the price
- Detailed drawings and plans
- A better built home in less time
- Dryer lumber means less warping, shrinking, twisting, rotting or swelling
- Straighter Walls
- Less home builder stress
- A cleaner job site is a safer job site
- Design flexibility
